Dont Use Nicehash Optimized Settings

Guys Matt from 123myit here. If you are mining Nicehash on a RTX 20 series or RTX 30 series or any other NVidia card. Then in this video, we are going to show you why it’s important not to use the Nicehash optimize option for your Nicehash mining.

First of all guys sorry for the blurry screen. I cant screen capture as it will affect the performance of the mining. The card that I will be using is the Gigabyte RTX 3060. If you want a link to that I will put the links in the description below. So what we will do first is run the card without any optimisation. Then I will run the card with Nicehash Optimisation. Then run the card with Manual Optimisation with afterburner and we will see which offers the best return on investment.

Use a wall socket – Dont use NiceHash

Ok so here is the reading with no optimisation. And the reading from the wall socket is 178 to about 180 watts. So running the card without any optimisation gives a hash rate of 37 and overall power usage is around 180 watts.

Alright let’s set the Nicehash optimisation to high and see what it gives us. The overclock has set the card core clock to 1560 and memory to 1200. I will just minimised the browser and give it a second to pull up the top score.

dont use nicehash

Nicehash Optimisation

Cool so the Nicehash High setting has done a good job at optimising the card with a higher hash rate of 47.9 and over all power usage of 144. Let’s see what medium settings does. The medium setting sets the core clock to 1500 and the Memory clock to 1000. The Nicehash medium optimisation finished with a hash rate of 46.8 and an overall power score of 138 watts. So again dropping the power consumption, but also dropping some of the hash rate.

Ok the last setting it the Lite optimisation and this sets the cards core clock to 1440 and memory to 700. After the card settled, it was punching out 45 mh with a power outlet score of 133 watts. So again, a decrease in both power and Hash rate as expected.  Alright let’s try a manual over clock using the afterburner software. I am going to do a quick restart and make sure that you turn the optimisation off in Nicehash as well before you do manual optimisation.

Using the AfterBurner Software – Dont use Nicehash

Ok starting up the afterburner software. You can see the power limit starts at 100. This is what you will mostly change to reduce the power that the card will use. I already have a clock set so I will apply those settings and you can see power limit and other settings change.

If you are not, sure what afterburner settings to use for your graphics card then look up this Nicehash page called NVidia AMD OC settings for mining. Moreover, it gives you a good starting point. So if you look here. It tells you all the types of graphics cards and I just used the numbers from here for my card the RTX 3060. No you can try any settings for your card you want. But this is a good starting point.

Ok so the card hash rate has settled on 47.55 with overall power consumption of 137 watts. Therefore, the manual overclock is pulling a similar hash rate to the Nicehash high setting but using 7 watts less. In addition, well you might say it’s such a small amount who cares right? But if you times this small amount by 24 hours a day 7 days a week and you have more than one card. This little amount will be allot. Mine Bitcoin on a Laptop

Hi Guys and welcome to 123myit. In this video, we will show you how to mine Bitcoin on your laptop. Ok Guys recently I did a review on the Lenovo Legion 5 laptop I will put a link to the video in the description below. In addition, I wanted to see if I could mine bitcoin with the graphics card in the laptop.

NiceHash App – Mining Bitcoin on a Laptop

The app that I am going to use is Nicehash. We won’t be mining Bitcoin directly but we will be using our hashing power to get paid in Bitcoin.

To get the Nicehash app head over to www.nicehash.com and create an account if you do not have one already. Once you have created account click on Login and log into your account.

Click on the mining tab and then click on the Download Miner button. On the next page you will have two options the first Miner is for NVidia Graphics only and the second button if for both NVidia and AMD graphics. This Legion 5 has 1660 TI GPU, so I will click the first button Nicehash QuickMiner.

Disable AntiVirus – Do this at you own Risk

Before installing the Nicehash miner you need to disable your antivirus as the antivirus will pick up the Nicehash installer as a virus. Guys the next steps you will need to do at your own risk. Therefore, head over to Nicehash terms page and have a read. It is important if you are new to Crypto that you understand the risks involved. This video is for information only.

Cool once you read the Nicehash terms, go in Start > Settings and in Security find the Virus and Protection settings. In addition, Turn off real time protection. This is so you can download and install the Nicehash miner. Just use the toggle switch to turn off real time protection and go back to the Nicehash downloads page.

Click the, I understand I have to make an antivirus exception on my rig checkbox. And then click on Go to GitHub download button. Once that load click on the EXE or Zip file. If you do the Zip file, you will need to make a folder exception. Also, if you have another antivirus software like I do here with the McAfee antivirus click accept the risk.

Download NiceHash

Ok if you download the zip file to make a Folder exception go back into the security settings and scroll down to exclusions click on Add or remove exclusions. Click Add an exclusion and navigate to the folder on the screen now. Replace YourWinUser with your Windows username folder and you also need to type in the AppData folder as it is hidden on most computers.

Ok so you would normally have your Nicehash folder here. I do not have it, as I am not using the Zip file install. Cool you have made your exclusions, lets install Nicehash app. Run the miner exe file and click on Download and Install.  Click ok and the Miner will start. You can open the miner screen up to check if it started or not.

Make sure you add in your Bitcoin wallet address. If you go down the bottom right hand side and right click the Nicehash, go to settings and edit Config file.

Mining Bitcoin on a Laptop

Go back into your Nicehash webpage and find your Bitcoin wallet address. It is under the Wallets Tab> deposit > Show BTC address. Copy that and replace the address in the config file.

Start Mining

Awesome you can start mining now. Go back to the Nicehash icon, right click it, and click on Start to start mining.

You can check your dashboard to see if it is mining ok. How much will a 1660TI earn per day? This depends on allot of factors but the Hashing power is currently around 26 MH/s. On my Nicehash app, it says that will earn about $2.50 US per day. Remember that if the price of Bitcoin drops this will be less. And you have to take into account electricity cost.

Clean GPU in 2021

Hi Guys and welcome to 123myit. In this video, we will show you how to clean GPU in 2021. Ok Guys If you are like me and you have a Crypto GPU or a Gaming GPU and you have been using it a while and it needs a clean then follow me and I will show you how to fix it up.

In this video, we will clean the GPU as well as replace the heatsink thermal paste and the thermal pads.

Dirty GPU to Clean GPU

The model I have here is the Radeon RX 570 and I was using it on a mining rig and as you can see its really dirty and clogged up with dust and to the point where its just over heating all the time. And even some of the heat sink is starting to corrode.

Take the GPU apart

Let us get started. The first thing you will need to do is take apart the card. You can do that by finding the screws that attached the fans to your heatsink. Once you have found them, just go ahead to and remove them. If you have, a different model and you are unsure. My best advice is to take it slow and gently. Moreover, do not get frustrated with it, as you will wreck your card.

When you have the screws loose gently, try to remove the Fans. With my card I have 3 fan cables which I need to remove. Be very gentle with these cables. Make sure you pull them out by the plug and not by the cables. If you pull it out by the cables, there is a chance the cable can break.

Go slowly

Just do your best to kind of slow massage them out. This top one was in awkward position so I just leave it and try doing the bottom one. Try not to force things.

Finally, I get the bottom cable off and wow check out all that dust and the corrosion. To clean the dust off the heat sink, some people use a can of compressed air and blow It everywhere. I just use a vacuum with brush attachment. In addition, do the same cleaning on the fans.

Remove Heatsink

Next step is to remove the heat sink screws. Generally, they will be the four screws on the back of the card. Gently try to remove the heatsink. If it does not move, do not force it. Go back and check there are no more screws to remove.

Cool, there it goes I had two more screws to remove. Therefore, we are going to replace the Thermal pads and Thermal paste. As you can see, the Thermal Pads are pretty much gone on the memory. Gently remove the Thermal Paste. I very slowly just peal it off where I can.

The harder dry pieces gently remove with a screwdriver. Make sure you do not scratch the memory.

How to Clean GPU

You can use a damp cloth or an alcohol wipe to remove any leftover thermal pads and thermal paste.

Clean GPU

Ok time to apply the new Thermal Pads and Paste. There is different thicknesses of thermal pads that go on the memory. On this RX570, .05 thickness goes on the memory and 1.0 goes on the VRMs. However, the VRM Thermal pads seemed ok on this card so I am not going to replace those. I will show you what they are in a second. Also, If you want an Amazon link the Thermal paste and Pads I will leave a link in the description. Cut the thermal pads to size and remove the two bit of plastic either side. Then place it carefully on the memory. If you need to know what thickness, Thermal pads go on your GPU then Google your GPU along with Thermal pad size.

Adding Thermal Paste

Do the same clean for the heatsink and then apply the Thermal Paste. I just put a little bit of Thermal Paste on the GPU. It will spread out when the heatsink and GPU are pushed together.

Both sides of the heatsink have guiding screws, which allows me to place the heatsink on in the right spot.

You can see there is more Thermal pads on the heatsink. It is in good condition so I did not change it.

Once the heatsink is back on flip the card over and replace the screws. Next up replace the fan power cables and screw the fans back on to the GPU.

Awesome you have now cleaned the GPU and replaced the Thermal Pads and Paste. Time to put it back to good use.

Best AMD RX 570 GPU for Mining Cryptocurrency

Best AMD RX 570 GPU for Mining Cryptocurrency

In this video I talk about the AMD RX 570 graphics cards and which brand I think is the best AMD RX 570. All cards will do a pretty good job at mining Ethereum at about 27 to 30 Mh/s however some cards are just better built easier to use and don’t get as hot.
The three different brands of RX 570 cards are Asus, Gigabyte and Sapphire.
Don’t forget to check out the best AMD rx 570 cards in action on my KraKen build.

Sapphire RX 570

Lets get straight into it, I have listed the pros and cons of the Sapphire cards below.
Pros
* Price around $329 usd
* Has a bios switch which allows you to switch between a gaming bios and a mining bios, really handy if you want to build a gaming / mining rig.

* 2 x power ports 1 x 6 pin and 1 x 8 pin power ports. Handy for different power supplies.
* Save power by turning off the flashy lights. Can turn these lights off permanently without the need to install extra software.
* Cards come with a back plate good if you have cards sitting close together.
Cons
* The cards are big so you will need allot of room to store them. 26 cms long.
* Sapphire cards heat up a bit more than their rivals.
* a little less stable and a little less able to be overclocked.
* Tend to use a little bit more power

Asus RX 570

Pros
* Price around $379 usd
* Smaller than the Sapphire cards at 24 cms.
* Run a little bit more stable at higher clocks.
* No back plate so they wont heat up as much.
best AMD rx 570
* 1 x 8 pin power slot only. Comes with led though so you can see when the card is plugged in properly.
Cons
* The cards don’t come with a back plate. Can be annoying when installing or when you have cards sitting close together.
* 1 x 8 pin power slot only.
* Can’t turn the light off permanently without installing software.

Gigabyte RX 570

Pros
* Price around $279 usd
* Cheap price return on investment will be faster.
* Smaller than the Asus at 23 cms long.
* Has a back plate.
* Memory does over clock quite high.

Cons
* Gets hot! Can’t run to many of these cards together.

In the end the all the cards will do the job. However the best AMD rx 570 card would be the Asus. If you want to buy any of these cards and support 123myIT.com please use the licks below.

How to make more profit in Crypto – Solar?

How to make more profit in Crypto – Solar?

Make money with solar?

In this video & article I explain how I was able to make more profit from mining Cryptocurrency by installing Solar panels on my roof. There is a few reasons why I decided to get solar. The first is to reduce my carbon foot print. We all have to do our bit to try and make the world a better place and there are some really easy ways to do this. That was the first reason.

The second reason was that I like to support the Solar industry. This is an industry that can solve allot of problems for humankind rather than burying it. Other industry’s out there are not so friendly towards out future.

The last reason was that I could use some of the power to mine Cryptocurrency. The panels will pay of the mining rig and the mining rig will pay off the Solar. This will happen at a much faster rate then if I was able to get some money back on my power bill from the energy company.

Crypto Solar Panels

How does it work?

The sunshine hits the panels and then flows down into the house first, so you use the power before it goes out to the grid. And you can get a refund of power supplied by your energy retailer.
The current feed in tariff in Australia is not much something like 12cents per kilowatt hour on a good day you can put in about 4 kWH to the grid.

This is middle of winter figures so this would be higher in summer. You need to also take into account that you are using the power first before it goes out to the grid. Fridges will use that power before it goes out. The actual figure would be higher then 4 kWh. Because the feed in tariff is not much its important to use the power before it goes out to the grid. In this case I am using it to mine Ethereum.

You could go one step further and install a battery. That way any power would be stored in the battery and used at a later time. The problem with this at the moment is that the battery’s cost far outweighs moneys saved. Buying a battery would be money wasted pretty much.

Windows 10 Mining Rig Settings

Windows 10 Mining Rig Settings

In this video I show you how to setup a Windows 10 mining rig with all the correct settings to make sure you mining rig will run without a hitch. Windows 10 is a massive beast on its own and has allot of difference settings that do very different things. So it can be hard to find out exactly what settings are effecting which part of Windows. For example, you will need to turn off Windows Updates temporarily while otherwise I can restart your mining rog.

As always the first thing you need to do I get yourself a copy of Windows 10 and you can do that through the 123myit.com website under Downloads link at the top of the page or click here. On that page if you scroll down to where it says
Windows 10 Media Creator Tool 32 bit link here. Create Media Tool 32 Bit
Windows 10 Media Creator Tool 64 bit link here. Create Media Tool 64 Bit
And click on the link that suits you. Most people would go for Windows 64 bit these days.
The next step you will need to do is make sure you run Windows updates. You can do this by going to Start > Settings > Update and Security.
Run those updates until Windows is fully up to date.

Windows 10 Mining

Once Windows 10 is updated go ahead and turn off the update service under services. You do this because when Microsoft push out new updates once a month the update can force your mining rig to restart. So disabling the updates makes sure you don’t wake up to your rigs that haven’t mined any cryptocurrency overnight. The important thing is to turn this back on every month and run the updates again then turn the service off again. This makes sure that your mining rig is still getting the updates but it not effecting your mining.

For more information on mining rigs please see the following link. https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4027667/windows-update-windows-10

One click AMD bios mod – Timings Only no Over Clock

One click AMD bios mod – Timings Only no Over Clock

This video will show you how to modify the timing on your AMD bios with one click bios, AMD bios mod.
This is the software that I currently use for AMD graphics cards. I use this AMD bios mod to increase the hash rate of the graphics card by changing the memory timings this is not an over clock more adjusting the way that the graphics card processes information.
This is the safer option than using a bios over clock.

Once you make this change then you can an over clocking tools such as over drive to over clock the graphics card via software over clock. Software over clock is safer than bios over clock as there is less chance of bricking your card.
Click here to get the Polaris link.
Under the downloads section of the 123myit.com website you will find the list of all software included in this video and all 123myit.com videos. For more info check it out here.

Then simply follow the rest of the video to apply the AMD bios mod. The software allows a really easy one click to manage most AMD graphics cards not just the RX570. If you run into issues try a restart of the computer and then if you are still having issues remove the new bios and replace with the old one.
This software makes the AMD bios mod changes quite easy, otherwise it might be allot harder for new people to try this mod. I hope it helps out and good luck! 🙂
