i have an early 2008 mac pro, I was able to install windows 8.1 pro but I dont have the drivers that can be excepted by windows 8.1 pro most things work from the drivers from the windows install but some things dont like the keyboard special keys that eject the CD and volume
HI mike
I think you will really struggle. You would have to look up the manufacture driver for each part of your Mac hardware and work out if they have Windows 8.1 drivers.

Hi,
Following your excellent guide I have Windows 10 booting from an external SSD over USB3. This was created with Windows to Go from Windows 10 Enterprise Edition running in a VM on my 6 core Mac Pro.
I managed to get AMD Crossfire installed and running with the Catalyst Omega drivers with DirectX 11. However I can’t find a way to install Crimson drivers for DirectX 12. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Michael Bradley
First of all good job by getting it working, where did you get the Enterprise edition of Windows 10?
And just let me know that the Crimson drivers are?
Cheers
MAtt
Microsoft supply 90 day trial versions of Windows 10 Enterprise.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-8-1-enterprise
Crimson is just the fancy name for the latest drivers from AMD that support DirectX 12.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+10+-+64
The method for creating the drivers I have already:
1. Uninstall the bootcamp driver using the bootcamp video driver installer’s “uninstall” option. (step I added).
2. remove all excess drivers with DDU utility
3. unpack Catalyst Omega drivers (amd-catalyst-omega-14.12-with-dotnet45-win8.1-64bit.exe) by executing the file and choosing a directory.
4. unpack latest Beta drivers (AMD-Catalyst-15.4Beta-64Bit-Win8.1-Apr9.exe) by executing the file and choosing a separate directory.
5. unpack December 2014 Bootcamp drivers (14.301.1010-141101a-177531c-whql.zip) by unzipping to a separate directory.;
6. replace the entire contents of the Bin64 subdirectory in the Beta drivers’ directory (ie. in c:\AMD\) with the entire contents of the Bin64 subdirectory of the Omega drivers;
7. replace the Installmanagerapp.exe and installmanager.dll files in the Bin64 directory of the Beta drivers with the same files from the Bin64 directory of the December 2014 bootcamp drivers;
8. run setup.exe in the beta drivers unpacked directory.
Hi Michael
Thanks for the info I will take a look at this shortly! 🙂

I should add these trial versions from Microsoft continue to work after 90 days in my experience but you need to reboot after a few hours. For playing GTA V it is quite enough 🙂

I forgot the obvious … I installed Windows 10 in Parallels and created the boot drives on SSDs attached via USB3.
I have also found that using Paragon’s NTFS access on the Mac ($19.95) many tasks can be accomplished on the PC side from the Mac such as house keeping and loading putting .exe files ready for installation on the user/desktop. I always download anything for the PC on the Mac and unRAR or unZIP there. This way I avoid crapware from the web sites as I have AdBlock on the Mac.

HI I have made installation of Windows 10 on Macbook Pro 8,2 (early 2011), but although evrything run smoothly there is no sound and the AMD Radeon 6750 controller is missing and HID bluetooth controlers not working as well.
I have run various times the bootcamp drivers and nothing changes, no sound and no graphic card controllers.
What can I do to make this controllers working?
It might be how windows 1 was installed mate. EUFI. Alos could be old Mac wont support windows 10 in terms of drivers.
Suggest maybe windows 7?
