Step 8. Make sure you do not select the “Re-Partition” checkbox as this will brick your phone. Make sure that the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes are ticked.

Step 9.Click the start button in Odin to start the flash of the CF Root File.

Step 10.The phone should restart automatically when the CF Root file is installed. When Odin displays the Pass in green you can unplug the phone from the USB cable.

Step 11.Your phone should now be rooted ad you should see the CWM app and clockworkmod based recovery is installed.

Once this is done your Samsung Galaxy S should be rooted ! 🙂

Good Luck

  1. I have an i9070 from Telcel Mexico which I tried to upgrade from 2.2.6 gb to 4.0.2 ICS using your method. I am unsure if this was right from the beginning (due to the gb firmware I have) So I went ahead and downloaded all the files, Odin, ICS.. etc. Connected my phone and placed the ICS file from the compressed folder into my Android folder. Then I tried to root it, not sure if this was necessary but I did it because my phone was not doing the same thing as shown in the video.

Thing is that Odin is not rooting the phone. I downloaded the files and places them in the tabs as it should be, recognizes the phone (Added!) but at the end it fails.

Now my phone has the black screen and I do not know what to do.

Is there a method I can follow before taking the phone to the brand? 🙁

    Please help me.

    • Hi Diego
You need to be careful trying to update the phone with this method as might only work with Samsaung Galaxy S i9000.

I would suggest you try to put the phone back the way it was in the beginning. So down grade it back to factory defaults. There is a video here, Which might help you get it out of the black screen.

Also there is some more infomation here which might help. But please be careful as the information is not for your exact model of phone.

      Good luck !

    • Hi Dan
I am not sure what has happened here. But what I should suggest is that you try putting the old firmware back on the device.

  10. Re rooting a GT-I9000. I’ve attempted this process and have the same problem reported in earlier reply (The phone continue to reboot repeatedly) I have repeated the steps again – odin confirms a pass. I was on the 2.3 Gingerbread version prior to attempt (An update applied via Kies) I’m using the CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar file from your site – can you confirm this is the correct file? any suggestions? Thanks for your help. DJ
