How to fix the redsn0w USB Communication Error

Hi Guys
So I have been having this issue on and off with the redsn0w USB Communication Error. And I have had a few people ask me about it.

Redsn0wUSB communication Error

In this video I will show you how to fix it.

Step 1.Restart your PC.
Step 2. Check your Cables.
Step 3.Try a different USB port on your PC.
Step 4.Try DFU mode again.
Step 5.Disable your virus scanner.
Step 6.Close any open programs or web browsers on your PC.
Step 7.Check your device manager and make sure the USB driver is installed correctly and doesn’t have a ! next to it.
Step 8.Try an earlier version of Redsn0w.
Step 9.Download and use the correct IPSW firmware version for your iPhone.

You can find a list of all the firmware for the iPhone here.
I hope that helps.
Cheers
Matt

      • Hi 123myIT,

I’m having a similar problem. I either get (iTunes error) 1600, 1015, communication error (in redsn0w), or get told my sim is not suitable for my network in itunes.

I was simply trying to restore my factory settings (as I am selling the phone), but now I think I have to re-jailbreak/activate it on a non-standard network.

f0recase is giving me this info:

        baseband: 06.15.00
        bootloader: 5.9_M3S2
        model iPhone1,2[MBA496B/A]
SHSH Blobs on Cydia: 4.0 (8A293)
        4.0.1 (8A306)
        4.0.2 (8A400)
        4.1 (8B117)
        4.2.1 (8C148)

        jailbreakable? yes
        unlockable? yes (via ultrasn0w)
        untethered? yes

        iPhone 3G – 4.2.1 (8C148)

Any ideas? I’ve tried a bunch of different techniques for getting it uploaded, but its almost got the best of me.

        Cheers,

        Craig

          • Hi Matt,

No luck so far, iTunes just keeps returning with 1600. I’ve tried going into pwned DFU with redsn0w as well, and they both let iTunes see the phone in recovery mode, but iTunes always returns an error. Or wants activation with a valid sim when it does start. Maybe my custom firmware isn’t doing what I want? whited00r doesn’t ever seem to install, but can you recommend a 4.2.1 that will activate without a specific network sim?

            Cheers,

            Craig

  2. Nevermind! Turns out it was the cable. Girlfriend had a heavy duty after-market sucker, tried using that and it worked a treat.

    Cheers for your tips Matt!

  3. I currently took over my brothers iPhone 3G, I believe it was jailbroken before, I tried using redsn0w versions 0.9.15 Beta 3, 0.9.15 Beta 2, and 0.9.10 Beta 8B, all state “USB connection problem”.
I restarted my computer, removed all anti-virus programs, disabled firewall, used all three USB ports, confirmed the iPhone was installed via Device Manager, closed all windows but redsn0w, tried DFU mode 5 times, and have downloaded the 4.2.1 firmware versions and STILL I get stuck in DFU/Restore mode.

I’ve checked multiple youtube videos, researched on google, and still cannot reboot my device! It’s extremely frustrating as my Samsung GS3 wont hold a charge no more so my last resort was this iPhone and it doesn’t work either!

I should also mention the iPhone has been unlocked prior to my access to it so i don’t know if that has anything to do with it either.

The 4.2.1 firmware files i download do not look like those i see in videos, instead they show up as a white blank page icon, with .plst / .n82 / etc as file extensions.

If possible, could I get a step-by-step procedure how to fix this problem?! I just want the iPhone to boot up from factory default settings, i do not care to jailbreak it, i do not care to have a custom IPSW, i just want to have it function like a normal iPhone so I may re-unlock it to change to my carrier (Telus) and use it as a new phone.

I apologize for the lengthy comment but appreciate any help! feel free to contact me via email if you’d like @ canucks33@hotmail.ca!

    Thanks in advance!!
